This is a chance for all swimmers in Years 7-10 to attempt to improve their times and further press for individual and relay team selection at the ACC Swimming Carnival.

REMAR Embarkation Camp

The Year 11 Blue and Year 12 Gold Embarkation Camp is a three-day retreat held at Serpentine Camp Centre. The two programs are held in conjunction in order to facilitate peer support, role modelling and community formation.

For the Year 11 Blue Caravel, it provides an opportunity to review the Red Crossing, informs the rowers of the expectations of the Blue Crossing and focuses on what it might mean to 鈥榣ive as Christ鈥檚 disciples鈥. As such, there is a strong focus on the development of a personal faith commitment.

The Gold Embarkation Program, provides an opportunity to review the Blue Crossing, informs the rowers of the expectations of the Gold Crossing and focuses on what it means to 鈥渂e a witness in my community鈥. The camp seeks to form a supportive and committed group who will see the journey through.

At the end of the camp, the Blue and Gold rowers are given the opportunity to decide whether they wish to continue with the Caravel Crossing in 2020. Those who wish to continue will affirm their commitment to their Caravel.

Year 10 Retreat Day

The Year 10 Retreat Day, which focuses on servant leadership, is hosted by the Youth Mission Team, a group of young adults who give up a year of their life to minister to high school aged youth all around the country.

Some of the key focal points for the day are:

  • For students to appreciate their own worth as a starting point of their leadership journey; for students to understand what leadership looks like and the relationship between leadership and service
  • That students would encounter the core Gospel values that drive true servant leadership and
  • That students would recognise that it is both possible and desirable to develop a personal relationship with Jesus, only to help them serve as He served.

Each session will have a particular theme following the trait of Integrity, helping students to identify integrity as the most valuable quality in a leader, but also the capacity to be true to themselves and their own beliefs and values, regardless of the pressure that others may place on them.

The day is a great way to be able to spend time as a cohort, to build relationships and community, but also to engage on a more personal level by inviting Jesus to empower us as leaders and to pray for the grace to be instruments of His love.
