Uniform Change 鈥 Winter 2026

To support a neat and consistent appearance during our Winter uniform period (Terms 2 and 3), the College will introduce a College black belt to be worn with the College trousers from Term 2, 2026. Families will need to purchase the belt from the Uniform shop for a cost of $20.

Trousers will now be sold with belt loops. If your child鈥檚 current trousers do not have loops, please arrange for loops to be added prior to the commencement of Term 2, 2026. The College Uniform Shop can assist with this alteration for a charge of $10 per pair of trousers, or you may use your preferred alterations service or make the adjustment at home.

Thank you for your support in implementing this change to keep our students looking smart and ready to learn. If you have any questions, the Uniform Shop team is happy to help.

Arts Week

In Week 2 of Term 4, we鈥檒l be celebrating the incredible creativity and talent within our community through a vibrant series of showcases. Each day will highlight a different artistic discipline, offering something for everyone to enjoy and be inspired by:

  • Monday: featuring performances from both Primary and Secondary students 鈥 a celebration of storytelling and stagecraft.
  • Tuesday: 鈥 an evening dedicated to recognising the creativity and innovation behind the camera.
  • Wednesday: 鈥 a chance to see and hear the heart of our artists and musicians in a stunning display of colour and sound.
  • Thursday & Friday: 鈥 bringing energy, expression, and connection to the stage in two unforgettable performances.

Child Safeguarding 鈥 Policy Updates

The College has recently completed a comprehensive review of our Child Safeguarding policy suite to ensure that it continues to meet the evolving needs of our students and complies with best practice and regulatory requirements. Please find below links to the updated policies.

Social Media Ban 鈥 Online Parent Information Session

On 10 December 2025, new legislation will take effect, banning children under the age on 16 from accessing social media platforms. The College seeks to support parents and students as they navigate this change and has engaged Paris MacNeill, a consultant who specialises in student mental health and the challenges of 鈥淕en Z.鈥

Paris will unpack the new legislation, what this will mean for our children, and provide practical advice and resources on how parents and the College can work together to minimise the anxiety and uncertainty that this change may create for students.

This online session will take place on Thursday 30 October at 6.00pm, and further registration details will be available to families in the first week of Term 4.

Year 7 鈥 11 Annual Awards Evening 鈥 Save the Date
This year, the Annual Awards Assembly will be held as an evening event. The evening will serve to acknowledge the hard work and achievements of students across all the College Portfolios.

The Annual Awards Evening will take place on Wednesday 26 November at 5.30pm in the Marist Auditorium. Award recipients and their families will receive a formal invitation closer to the day.

Gryffindor… we love Guild

You might belong in Gryffindor,
Where dwell the brave at heart,
Their daring, nerve, and chivalry,
Set Gryffindors apart.听

The line from Harry Potter and the Sorcerer鈥檚 Stone focuses on the sorting hat determining which of the Houses the new students will be assigned. This week鈥檚 inaugural Year 1-12 Guild activity was not quite as dramatic, but in seeing students from Primary and Secondary coming together in Guild and Family spirit, there was a lot of excitement and deep connection that demonstrated pride and belonging. To see older students getting to know their Guild friends in Primary and our young ones being thrilled to be amongst the 鈥榖ig kids鈥 was a moment of magic. The activity was about building bonds, connections and unity under the name of the Guild. Well done to Student Leader Co-ordinator, Mr Mike Van Der Heever, the Guild Co-ordinators, Leaders of Wellbeing and Mrs Sarah Pagett and Mrs Anna Scanlan on an excellent moment in Guild. The last congratulations go to our students who really understood the historical moment they crafted.

Lavalla Father鈥檚 Day Breakfast

So many sausages! What a great morning we had a week ago when we invited Fathers, Grandfathers and Father- Figures to our Lavalla Father鈥檚 Day Breakfast! We all enjoyed the strong sense of community and fun that then followed in the liturgy and classroom visits. Thank you to the College Executive, Primary Leadership Team and a number of mums who fed the huge crowd.

Game Changers Graduation

Ends are not bad things, they just mean that something else is about to begin. This came to mind as we celebrated the Year 12 Game Changers Graduation evening this week. It is a heart-warming event every year where we celebrate the great work of students involved in our Game Changers program over the course of their time at Marcellin. Such wonderful students and families, strongly supported by great staff mentors in the program, and it is just a sample of the Class of 2025, who have committed deeply to all the College has offered over the years. That very day, many of our Year 12 students had taken part in the Great Shave and Haircut. This is their legacy piece, where over $56,000 was raised for Cancer support and cure. An amazing day to be a part of! Each of the days of these final weeks of term will be a significant 鈥榣ast鈥 for the graduating class. Please keep them in your prayers.

PP-Y6 Athletics Carnival

Beautiful weather and great involvement marked today鈥檚 Primary Guild Athletics Carnival. We have been amazed by the way in which Lavalla students and families have taken to being a part of the Guild system after the move away from the previous Primary factions. As with the Father鈥檚 Day Breakfast, where many mums jumped in to help, today鈥檚 event was made even more special by the work of parent volunteers on the sausage sizzle. Thank you to … for the donation of the sausages. The sales will go to the Archbishop鈥檚 Lifelink. Congratulations to the Primary and Grounds teams for their dedicated planning and running of the carnival.

ACC ISP Athletics Carnival

Carnival season continued this week and we were delighted to see the participation and commitment of our students in the Inclusive Sport Carnival. An excellent day always, the carnival is a keenly awaited event on the Education Support calendar every year.

R U OK Day

We are proud to work alongside the RU OK program every year to maintain a strong spotlight on mental health. Resources, conversation starters and awareness were a part of 秀秀直播’s recognition this week, with the leaders of Wellbeing and the Wellbeing Captains leading us in recognising RU OK.

Our best wishes to the ACC Athletics team, who compete next week in the A Division Carnival.

I hope you have a wonderful fortnight ahead.

ACC A Division (Secondary) and IPSHA (Year 3-6) Athletics Carnivals

Next week, our 秀秀直播 Athletics squads head to their interschool carnivals. Years 7鈥12 compete at the ACC Athletics Carnival on Wednesday 17 September at the WA Athletics Stadium. Years 3鈥6 take part in the IPSHA Athletics Carnival on Thursday 18 September at All Saints College.

Thank you to Ms Marnie Barrett, Ms Hannah Barnsley and our Health and Physical Education staff for their work with the squads. Best of luck to all students competing, and we look forward to hearing of your efforts, teamwork and personal bests.

Year 12 Music Exchange

On Monday 22 September, the College will welcome 23 students and accompanying staff from Sacred Heart College in Adelaide, to join our students in a Music Exchange Program. Over the week, the two schools will combine for Percussion, Concert Band and Choir rehearsals and masterclasses, culminating in a concert on Thursday 25 September.听 Students will also visit a local retirement village to perform for residents (including Brothers Noel Hickey and Terry Orrell) and Sacred Heart students will spend time sightseeing around Perth. The program will be a great opportunity for students to diversify their musical training experiences and create connections with students from within our Marist School network.

Secondary Update – Term 3 Week 8

R U Ok? Day

On听Thursday, 11 September, the College came together to celebrate听R U OK? Day鈥攁 national event dedicated to promoting mental health awareness and encouraging meaningful conversations.

This year鈥檚 theme, 鈥淎sk R U OK? Any Day鈥擝ecause Life Happens Every Day,鈥 reminded us that checking in with others should not be limited to one day. It is about making space for genuine conversations and letting those we care about know we鈥檙e here to really hear them.

The day was led by our Leaders of Wellbeing and Wellbeing Captains Jasmin Afflick and Leyla Do. Bright yellow lollipops, ribbons, and wristbands were shared to lift spirits and encourage connection.

To support meaningful conversations, we encouraged everyone to follow these four steps:

R U OK? Day serves as a powerful reminder that mental wellbeing is a shared responsibility. Thank you to everyone who participated and helped make the day a success. Let鈥檚 continue to support one another and make wellbeing a priority鈥攅very day.

If you or someone you know is feeling distressed or struggling with their wellbeing, it is important to reach out for support.

  • For immediate support in Australia, you can contact:

Year 12 Legacy Project 鈥 Do It For Cancer

Throughout 2025, our Student Leadership Team has been reflecting on the legacy they want to leave as a graduating year. They wanted it to be something purposeful, something that could bring the 秀秀直播 community together and also make a difference to the lives of people outside of school.

After a series of workshops and collaborative conversations, the team chose to support the Cancer Council鈥檚 Do It For Cancer campaign. This Australia-wide initiative empowers individuals and groups to take on personal challenges鈥攕uch as shaving their heads or completing physical feats鈥攖o raise funds for cancer research, prevention, and support services. It is a cause that resonates deeply with many in our community, touching the lives of students, families, and staff alike.

Over 60 Year 12 students courageously committed to the challenge, either by shaving their heads or taking on a physical challenge, all in the name of raising awareness, funds, and hope. On Wednesday 10 September, the College came together for the Greatest Shave event, a celebration of compassion and community spirit.

We are proud to share that the听Class of 2025 have raised over $56,000.听

Donations are still being accepted until the end of term.听To support the Class of 2025 you can head to their fundraising page via the link. .

Thank you to 秀秀直播 Community for supporting our Year 12 students.

2026 Leadership Process

We are delighted to announce that Grace Bradshaw and Thomas Butson have been elected as our 2026 College Captains.听These positions recognise their exceptional qualities of leadership and character, as well as their dedication to supporting and enriching the life of our College.听Well done to both of these students.

Applications for the remaining positions in the 2026 Student Leadership folio are now in the interview and voting stage. The complete 2026 Student Leadership Team will be announced to the College community at our Celebration Assembly on Thursday, 25 September.

Year 12 Final Day
The final day for our Year 12 students will be Thursday, 25 September.听We invite the parents and guardians of our Year 12 students to our College on the morning to share in this special day with their child.听The day will begin with a Celebration Assembly in the Gymnasium, where we will farewell our 2025 cohort. We will also announce our 2026 Student Leadership Team. The Year 12s will walk through a Guard of Honour of our students and conclude with a Year 12 Final Assembly in the Auditorium, followed by light refreshments with their parents and guardians.听We look forward to sharing in this special celebration with our Year 12 students and their parents and guardians.

Guild Athletics Age Champions

Last Monday we celebrated the outstanding achievements from our recent Guild Athletics Carnival!

We announced the Age Group Champions across each year level and recognised the incredible students who set new records on the day. Their hard work, determination, and talent were truly inspiring. Congratulations to all who competed and contributed to making this year鈥檚 carnival one to remember!

Our athletes are now turning their focus to the ACC Athletics Carnival on Wednesday 17 September, and we can鈥檛 wait to see them represent 秀秀直播 on the big stage.

Secondary Update – Term 3 Week 6

Wellbeing Week:

The College has celebrated Wellbeing Week this week, with each day focusing of a different aspect of wellbeing. Our focus for Tuesday was Together Tuesday, highlighting the importance of relationships for our own wellbeing. Students participated in a team building activities during EGT.

On Wellness Wednesday, we explored the power of mindfulness, and students completed a meditation in PCG. Cohorts gathered for Thankful Thursday and had an opportunity to give thanks to other members in the College community, and were reminded of how practising gratitude can have a positive impact on our wellbeing. Guild Representatives acknowledged their PCG teachers and Leaders of Wellbeing. In the Year 10 Gratitude Assembly, we acknowledged Austin Wyeth, who was awarded the Bronze Medallion for Courage Youth Awards at Surf Life Saving WA鈥檚 Coastal Bravery Awards earlier this month. This honour is awarded to young people under 16 who show courage and use their surf lifesaving skills. Austin received the award for his incredible bravery at Scarborough Beach, where he came to the assistance of two men struggling in a rip. His quick thinking and decisive action helped bring one of the men safely back to shore before lifeguards arrived to assist the second. Well done, Austin. We are so proud of you! Students were invited to participate in various service activities at lunch, such as a community clean up and letter writing to young people in war-torn countries.

Fitness Friday highlights the importance of an active and healthy lifestyle for our overall wellbeing. Staff were encouraged to use various movement breaks during classes, and at lunch there was a staff vs student soccer match on the oval.

Wellbeing Week provides an opportunity for staff and students to focus on various aspects of wellbeing by building habits, awareness, and a community that supports long-term health and happiness.

Transperth:

As representatives of our College community, it is important that all students demonstrate respect and responsibility while travelling on public transport. The way we conduct ourselves reflects not only on our own character but also on the wider school community.

We remind students to always uphold the 秀秀直播 Norms by:

  • Using polite and respectful language at all times.
  • Offering seats to those in need, including elderly passengers, parents with young children, and people with disabilities.
  • Keeping noise to a considerate level and avoid disruptive behaviour.
  • Respecting the property of others and leave buses and trains clean and tidy.
  • Following the directions of transport staff promptly and courteously.

By showing kindness, courtesy, and maturity, we contribute to a safe and positive experience for everyone travelling. Thank you for your cooperation in helping us maintain the high standards expected of our students, both at school and in the wider community.

Recognition of State Representation

Congratulations to the following students for selection in the Western Australian teams in their respective sports:

  • Julian Cameron and Michael Moschopoulos from Year 7 who have been selected to represent Western Australia in the 2025 Football (Soccer) 12s Boys Championship. This team will be competing at the School Sport Australia National Championships in Ballarat, VIC from 25 October – 30 October 2025.
