Year 7 Disco

This week the College celebrated the inaugural Wellbeing Week across the three campuses. Each day had a unique theme along with activities to help students get involved in improving their own wellbeing.
Monday’s theme was “Be Active”. The day included a walk to school day, fitness activities, staff v students dodgeball competition and the Years 7 and 8 students completing their wellbeing journal. Tuesday’s theme was “Mindfulness”. Students enjoyed a variety of activities including more staff v student games during lunchtime. We also welcomed back DJ Azza (Class of 2018) who entertained the students at recess resulting in a Flashmob Dance. Wednesday’s theme was “Gratitude”. To help students be more grateful, they were invited to add to the gratitude wall. The much anticipated staff v students Battle of the Bands also took place, with the staff band coming out as the victors. Finally, Thursday’s theme was “Connect”. Students enjoyed an extended lunch filled with games including an inflatable obstacle course, the teacher Dance Battle, staff v students tug of war, yoga and exercise classes to help students connect with one another.
It was an amazing week and a great way for students to be able to relax a little and focus on their wellbeing.

Years 7 and 8 Butterfly Foundation Talk
During extended PCG next Wednesday (August 19), the Years 7 and 8 students will attend a session run by the Butterfly Foundation on the topic of ‘body image in a digital world’. for more information about the presentation.
On a sunny but chilly winters day, the Year 12 ATAR Geography students ventured out of the classroom on their final field excursion. The intrepid geographers, along with Mrs March and Mr Woolley, began their day in the CBD before crossing the river and heading south to Cockburn Central, an example of a strategy to combat Perth’s urban sprawl. They then headed back to the CBD to further investigate examples of urban processes and urban renewal strategies in Elizabeth Quay, East Perth and the Perth City Link. Their final trek through Northbridge, in the inner mixed zone, did indeed open the students’ eyes to the mix of land-uses and pedestrians in this diverse zone.
A final and fabulous end to two years of studying Geography.
